CREATED:20251115T160307
SUMMARY:Guest Speaker - Hans Feitz - SASI
LOCATION:Green Point Observatory
DESCRIPTION:SASI Astroimaging Workshops SummarySASI astrophotography workshops have a r
ange of mentors on different subjects, like Solar, planetary, deep space, o
ne shot colour, filtered monochrome and the popular smart telescopes.\nWork
shops run on most Wednesday nights and there is no syllabus so we're free t
o team up "mentors" and "mentees" in smaller groups, sub ject to your inter
ests.\nHans will update us with the latest happenings from the workshops.\n
Members can join the APWorkshop group on WhatsApp where we'll communicate “
What’s on this Wednesday”.\n \n\nHans FeitzHans and his family moved from t
he Netherlands to live in Australia in 1993. As an international field serv
ice engineer in medical imaging and cancer treatment equipment, he travelle
d the world and discovered Australia with clean air, a great lifestyle and
lots of business opportunities.\nMastering imaging technology has been a co
nstant in his career, ranging from sub-atomic scanning probe microscopes, m
icroscopic X-ray and the large body scanners of one or another kind. \nHans
is proud of his 3rd and last business “Gamma Gurus”, which is still going
strong and prior to retirement, he took an interest in Astrophotography bec
ause it looked like a challenging hobby at the time. It is certainly someth
ing to keep his brain ticking over and get a lot of enjoyment out of this w
ondrous field of imaging.\nJust over 3 years ago Hans joined the SASI and j
oined the SASPAC training course, hoping to learn lots about astrophotograp
hy (AP) but instead got a great insight in the much wider astronomy field a
nd appreciation for the shared knowledge in the society.\nSelf study in AP
lead to his first purchase of the modern components of a telescope rig, lot
s of parts and cables with software to make it sing. \nIn order to attract
more people to the AP hobby, Hans started to host AP workshops on most Wedn
esday evenings and there are now a fair few who joined this hobby. Hans is
keen to use modern user interfaces and attract the younger generations as w
ell. The AP workshops are still going, come and join us.\n \n \n \nNote: Th
is will be an in-person presentation at the Green Point Observatory. Member
s will also receive an invitation to join online for those who cannot make
 it to the GPO.\n
