SUMMARY:Guest Speaker - Don Whiteman (Bintel)
LOCATION:Green Point Observatory
DESCRIPTION:So you think you know the constellations? This talk will see how well we kno
w the constellations that we watch going overhead at night. Both novice and
experienced astronomers are always surprised by the level of their knowled
ge of the night skies. Whilst we know the locations of some of our favourit
e deep sky objects, we tend not to know the constellations.\n\nDon Whiteman
Don has worked as a telescope technician and builder for almost 30 years. H
e has been technical guy at Bintel for last 24 years answering questions an
d repairing most thing astronomical.\nDon spent some time in mid 90s workin
g as a technician at Celestron in Torrance and some time in the early 2000s
at Meade in technical services.\nHe has been and amateur astronomer since
his first telescope back in 1965 and been heavily involved in astronomical
societies for many years. \nA life member at ASNSW, serving on the board of
ASNSW from 1994 to 2016, Don actively spends dark time looking for faint p
lanetary nebulae and small faint fuzzy galaxies.\nHe is still a student of
 the craft.\n \n \n
